What you get
Never lose a hook
Sing the idea the moment you hear it and keep it as editable notes, not a voice memo.
In tune without trying
Key and scale correction snap every pitch you sing to the notes of your chosen scale.
Drums from your mouth
Beatbox a pattern and get kick, snare and hat notes you can edit in the piano roll.
Who it's for
Songwriters who sing
Captures a melody you sing or hum as in-key MIDI notes, which you can fix note by note or take to other software as a .mid file.
Beatmakers and beatboxers
Turns beatboxed kicks, snares and hats into drum notes on the timeline, so a groove in your head becomes a pattern.
Producers who don't play keys
Lets you enter melodies, basslines and chord beds by voice instead of clicking notes into the piano roll.
Content creators and YouTubers
Shows a hummed idea turning into notes on the timeline as you sing, for videos about how songs get made.
When to use it
- A hook comes to you and you can sing it faster than you can play it
- You want to beatbox a drum idea before programming it
- You need a bassline and would rather hum it than draw it
- You want a quick chord bed from a single sung line
- You have a hummed melody you want to turn into a full song
What you can make with it
A topline over your beat
Hum over your beat in Melody mode and keep the take as notes you can edit and reuse.
A sung bassline
Sing the line in a comfortable range, then use OCTAVE to drop it up to three octaves so it sits as a bass part.
A beatboxed groove
Beatbox kick, snare and hat sounds in Drums mode, then tidy the timing and velocities of the hits in the piano roll.
Chord pads from a hum
Hum slow, long notes in Chords mode and each one becomes a triad or a seventh chord in your key, for a quick pad part under a verse.
The key from your voice
Sing a few notes and let Key Detect from my voice pick the root, then record the melody in that key.
From hum to sung song
Save the melody with Export as MIDI File and give it to MIDI to Song Generator with lyrics to hear it as a sung song. MIDI to Song Generator uses tokens.
A songwriting video
Screen-record VocalMIDI One while you hum, so viewers see the notes appear on the timeline as you sing.
VocalMIDI One is Soundverse's voice to MIDI instrument: it turns singing, humming or beatboxing into MIDI notes in real time inside AI Studio, in your browser. It's for songwriters, producers and beatmakers who hear a part in their head and can sing it faster than they can play it. You get Melody, Drums and Chords modes, key and scale correction, an octave shift, velocity from your loudness, and a quick calibration for your voice and microphone.
What you can do
Three ways to perform
Pick a mode on the Perform tab.
Melody
One note at a time, snapped to your key, and OCTAVE shifts the part up or down by up to three octaves.
Drums
Beatbox into kick (36), snare (38) and hat (42). Clear the Hat slot and press Learn on Open Hat (46) to send bright hits there instead.
Chords
One sung note becomes a triad or seventh chord in your key, with an optional root-note bassline.
Control
Tune how your voice becomes notes.
Key
12 roots and 9 scales, including pentatonic, blues and chromatic, plus Key Detect from my voice to set the root from what you sing.
Feel
STICKINESS, SENSITIVITY and OCTAVE on the Perform tab.
Mapping
Velocity follows your input level, or stays fixed at 100.
Calibration
Select your input, set the level and sing your range; re-calibrate or delete the profile anytime in Settings.
How it hears you
VocalMIDI One uses real-time signal analysis in your browser, not a generative AI model.
Pitch detection
Tracks the pitch of your voice as you sing and maps it to the nearest note in your scale.
Onset detection
A steady new pitch starts a note, and silence or a pitch change ends it; in Drums mode, a jump in loudness triggers each hit.
Brightness for drums
Each beatboxed hit is sorted by how bright it sounds: low into kick, middle into snare, bright into hat.
How it works
Load VocalMIDI One
In AI Studio, choose Instruments under Studio in the sidebar and click VocalMIDI One. It loads onto your MIDI track, or a new one, and its window opens.
Calibrate your voice
Allow microphone access, then follow three steps: select your input, set the level and sing your range. The calibration is saved on your device.
Pick a mode and key
On the Perform tab, choose Melody, Drums or Chords, set the KEY, and adjust STICKINESS, SENSITIVITY and OCTAVE to suit your voice.
Record and use the notes
Arm the track, press Record and sing. The notes land in a MIDI clip you can edit in the piano roll or save with Export as MIDI File.

Why use VocalMIDI One
Ideas at the speed of your voice
Sing or hum a melody and it lands as MIDI notes on your timeline while you perform, with no recording to convert afterwards.
In key by default
Pitches snap to the key and scale you choose, from major and minor to pentatonic, blues and chromatic, so takes land in tune.
Beatbox a drum part
In Drums mode, VocalMIDI One sorts each sound by its brightness into kick, snare or hat and writes it to standard drum notes.
Free, and analyzed locally
VocalMIDI One costs no tokens on any plan, including Free, and its voice analysis runs locally in your browser.

Good to know
Live input only
VocalMIDI One listens to your microphone as you perform. To convert an existing recording, use Audio to MIDI.
One note at a time
Melody mode follows a single pitch; Chords mode is the only way to write several notes from one sung note.
Three drum sounds
Beatboxing is sorted by brightness into kick, snare and hat (or open hat in the hat's place), so similar sounds can land on the same slot.
Calibrate first
Until you calibrate, VocalMIDI One warns that accuracy is limited. Setup takes your input, level and voice range.
Your microphone and VocalMIDI One
- VocalMIDI One's voice analysis runs locally in your browser.
- Your calibration profile is a small set of settings, not audio, stored on your device; delete it anytime in Settings.
- VocalMIDI One writes MIDI notes to your track, not a recording of your voice.
Frequently asked questions
Is VocalMIDI One a free voice to MIDI tool?
Yes. VocalMIDI One is free on every Soundverse plan, including Free, and using it costs no tokens. It runs inside AI Studio, where the Free plan gives you 3 projects with up to 3 tracks each and MP3 export, and VocalMIDI One takes one track. Creator raises the limits to 8 projects and 8 tracks and adds WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG and stems. All you need is a microphone.
How accurate is VocalMIDI One?
VocalMIDI One follows one pitch at a time with real-time pitch detection, so a clear solo voice gives the cleanest notes, and it warns that accuracy is limited until you calibrate your mic and range. Key correction snaps notes to your scale, STICKINESS sets how long a new pitch must hold before the note changes, and SENSITIVITY sets how quiet a sound can be and still start a note in Soundverse AI Studio.
Can I use music I make with VocalMIDI One commercially?
It depends on your Soundverse plan. On the Free plan, what you make with VocalMIDI One is for personal use. Paid plans include a commercial license; the Pricing page lists what each plan covers. If someone else sings or beatboxes the part, get their permission, and you need the rights to anything you upload into the project.
What can't VocalMIDI One do?
VocalMIDI One works live from your microphone, so it doesn't convert an audio file you already have; use Audio to MIDI for recordings. Melody mode follows one note at a time, Chords mode is the only way to write several notes from one sung note, and Drums mode sorts beatboxing into just three sounds: kick, snare and hat. It runs only inside Soundverse AI Studio.
What is VocalMIDI One?
VocalMIDI One is Soundverse's voice-to-MIDI instrument in AI Studio. It listens to your microphone, detects the pitch and start of each note as you sing, hum or beatbox, and writes MIDI notes into the armed track, while a built-in monitor sound lets you hear the result. Tabs for Perform, Drums, Key, Chords, Mapping and Settings control how your voice becomes notes.
How do I turn my voice into MIDI?
Open VocalMIDI One in Soundverse AI Studio and finish the three-step calibration: select your input, set the level, and sing your range. On the Perform tab pick Melody and set the KEY, then arm the track and press Record. Sing or hum the part, and the notes land in a MIDI clip you can edit in the piano roll or save with Export as MIDI File.
Can I beatbox drums into MIDI?
Yes. Switch VocalMIDI One to Drums mode in Soundverse AI Studio and beatbox: each hit is sorted by its brightness into kick, snare or hat and written to the matching General MIDI drum note, 36, 38 or 42. To send bright hits to the open hat on note 46 instead, clear the Hat slot and press Learn on Open Hat. Similar-sounding hits can land on the same slot, so tidy the pattern in the piano roll afterwards.
How is VocalMIDI One different from Voice to Instrument and Audio to MIDI?
VocalMIDI One turns your voice into MIDI notes live, while you perform, at no token cost. Voice to Instrument is a Soundverse AI tool that turns a recording of your voice into audio played by an instrument model, such as sitar or flute. Audio to MIDI is an AI tool that transcribes an existing recording into MIDI, one track per instrument. Both AI tools use tokens.
Can I turn a hummed melody into a full song?
Yes, in two ways. Record your melody with VocalMIDI One, save the clip with Export as MIDI File, and open Soundverse's MIDI to Song Generator with your lyrics. Or record yourself humming and give the audio to Melody to Song Generator, which builds a sung song that follows your tune. Both generators take 5 to 60 seconds of melody and use tokens.
Sing your next idea into MIDI
Open AI Studio, load VocalMIDI One onto a track, calibrate your mic, and sing, hum or beatbox your part onto the timeline.
