It runs in AI Studio with no tokens on any plan and saves with your project.

Who it's for

EDM and dance producers

Chops builds and transitions at 1/16 or 1/32 for the rolls that lead into a drop.

Hip-hop and pop producers

Adds stuttered words to vocal hooks and glitchy fills to the last bar of a phrase.

Trance and progressive producers

Gate mode chops pads and chords into a rhythmic pulse with no repeats.

Experimental and glitch artists

Glitch and Tape-Stop modes turn any track into broken, textured rhythms.

When to use it

  • A build-up before the drop feels flat
  • The last bar of a phrase needs a fill
  • A sustained pad or chord part needs rhythm
  • You want a glitchy transition between sections
  • A vocal hook would land harder with a stutter on one word

What you can make with it

A roll into the drop

Use Glitch at 1/16 and automate MIX up over the last bars before the drop.

One stuttered word

Put the vocal on its own track, choose Stutter at 1/16 and automate MIX up for a single word.

A trance-style gate

Run a sustained pad through Gate mode at 1/16 to chop it into a rhythmic pulse.

A tape-stop moment

Bring in Tape-Stop at the end of a section for a darkening, repeating pitch sag before the next part.

Triplet fills

Switch DIV to 1/8T or 1/16T for triplet chops that break up a straight groove.

Drum loop repeats

Run a drum loop through Stutter at 1/8 with FBK raised for ringing repeats at the end of a phrase.

A glitch transition

Automate MIX on the full song's track for a short glitch between the verse and the chorus.

Stutter One is a stutter effect in Soundverse AI Studio that chops and repeats a track at note values worked out from your project's tempo. Four modes change the move: Stutter gates and repeats, Glitch doubles the rate for tighter rolls, Gate chops without repeats, and Tape-Stop darkens the track with a slow, repeating pitch sag. It's built for EDM, hip-hop and pop producers making fills, builds and transitions, and it's free on every plan, with no tokens used.

What you can do

Modes

MODE picks the kind of chop.

  • Stutter

Gates the track at the DIV note value and repeats each slice. FBK sets how long the repeats ring.

  • Glitch

Like Stutter at twice the rate, for tighter, busier rolls.

  • Gate

Chops the track in rhythm with no repeats, for trance-style pads and chords.

  • Tape-Stop

Skips the gate and repeats, darkens the sound and adds a slow, repeating pitch sag.

Controls

Shape the slices and how much of them you hear.

  • DIV

    1/4, 1/8, 1/8T, 1/16, 1/16T or 1/32, timed from the project tempo.

  • DEPTH and SMOOTH

DEPTH sets how far the gate cuts, and SMOOTH above halfway rounds the gate's edges.

  • FBK and FILTER

FBK sets how long repeats ring in Stutter and Glitch, and FILTER darkens the sound as you turn it down.

  • MIX and OUT

MIX blends the effect with the dry track, and OUT trims the level. Both can be automated.

Where the AI comes in

Stutter One is signal processing. Agent One can add and set it for you in AI Studio.

  • Ask Agent One

    • Add Stutter One to the vocal in Glitch mode at 1/16
    • Put a gate on the pad track with Stutter One

Why use Stutter One

Timed to your tempo

DIV sets the chop in note values, from quarter notes to 32nds and triplets, worked out from your project's tempo.

Four moves in one effect

Stutter, Glitch, Gate and Tape-Stop cover rolls, tight glitches, rhythmic chops and dark pitch sags without stacking effects.

Only where you want it

Automate MIX to drop the effect into a fill or a build and pull it out again, without cutting or moving clips.

Soft or hard edges

SMOOTH switches the gate from hard, clicky edges to rounded ones, and FILTER darkens the slices so they sit back in the mix.

Good to know

On the whole time

Stutter One processes the track the whole time it's switched on. Automate MIX to use it only in places.

Note values, not hits

Slices follow DIV and the tempo, not the transients in your audio, and they aren't locked to the bar line.

Tape-Stop repeats

Tape-Stop is a repeating pitch sag with a dark filter, not a single stop at a chosen beat.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stutter One a free stutter effect?

Yes. Stutter One is one of the AI Studio effects included on every Soundverse plan, Free too, and it uses no tokens because it runs in your browser. Plans differ in the studio around it: Free keeps up to 3 projects with 3 tracks each and exports MP3, and Creator and above add more tracks and WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG and stem export.

How do I keep Stutter One from sounding harsh?

Raise SMOOTH above halfway so Stutter One's gate rounds off its edges instead of switching hard, and pull FILTER down to darken the slices. Lower DEPTH so the gaps don't drop all the way out, keep FBK low for single repeats or raise it for longer rolls, and set MIX so the dry track still carries the groove.

Can I use a track with Stutter One on it commercially?

It depends on your Soundverse plan. On the Free plan, what you make is for personal use. Paid plans include a commercial license; the Pricing page lists what each plan covers. Stutter One only rearranges audio you bring, so you need the rights to anything you upload or record, such as a vocal or a sample.

What can't Stutter One do?

Stutter One runs the whole time it's switched on; there's no button to fire a single stutter, so you place it by automating MIX. It chops at the note value you pick rather than by detecting the hits in your audio, and its chops follow the tempo's note lengths without locking to the bar line. And Tape-Stop is a repeating, dark pitch sag rather than a single stop at a chosen beat.

What is Stutter One?

Stutter One is a rhythmic effect in Soundverse AI Studio that gates, repeats and filters a track at note values tied to the project tempo. It has four modes, Stutter, Glitch, Gate and Tape-Stop, plus DIV, MIX, DEPTH, FBK, FILTER, SMOOTH and OUT controls, and it runs in your browser on any track.

How do I add a stutter effect to vocals?

Put the vocal on its own track in Soundverse AI Studio, click the track header, click ADD EFFECT and pick Stutter One under Rhythmic. Open its window, press Play, choose Stutter or Glitch and a DIV such as 1/16, then raise FBK for longer rolls. Right-click MIX and choose Add automation so the stutter only hits the words you want.

What do the four modes in Stutter One do?

In Stutter One, Stutter mode gates the track at the DIV note value and repeats each slice, with FBK setting how long the repeats ring. Glitch does the same at twice the rate for tighter rolls. Gate chops the track rhythmically with no repeats, for trance-style pads. Tape-Stop drops the gate and repeats, darkens the sound and adds a slow, repeating pitch sag.

Is Stutter One AI?

No, Stutter One is signal processing: a tempo-timed gate, a repeat delay and a filter, running in your browser with no tokens. AI comes in through Agent One in AI Studio, which can add Stutter One to a track and set its mode when you ask, with the Studio switch on. Agent One requests use tokens, and the Free plan gives you three Agent One generations, two of them unlocked by sharing Soundverse.

How is Stutter One different from Sidechain One?

Both move a track's volume with the tempo, in different ways. Stutter One chops the track into slices at a note value and, in Stutter and Glitch modes, repeats them for rolls and glitches. Sidechain One ducks the volume on each beat or bar and lets it swell back, for the pumping sound of dance music. Reach for Stutter One for fills and transitions, and Sidechain One for a steady groove.

Ready to glitch your next transition?

Open AI Studio, add Stutter One to a track and pick a mode. It's free on every plan.
