Do more with De-Esser One on Creator — from $9.99/mo, or ₹399/mo in India. 8 AI Studio projects with 8 tracks each; WAV, stems and 1080p export. Billed $119.88 a year, or $12.49 month to month.

What you get

Six bands across the S range

Narrow bands from about 4.8 to 10.8 kHz each react when sibilance gets loud in their part of the range.

Hear what changes

Δ DELTA plays only the difference the bands make, so you can judge the effect before you export.

Free, right on the track

It runs in your browser in AI Studio, saves with your project and uses no tokens on any plan.

Who it's for

Singers and rappers

Built to turn down harsh S and SH sounds in a lead vocal, band by band, with the amount set by ear.

Podcasters

Gives a spoken-word track a stage aimed at sharp S sounds, set by ear with SPLIT and MIX.

Vocal producers and mix engineers

Δ DELTA lets you hear exactly what the bands change before you settle on a setting.

Creators polishing AI-generated vocals

Adds a sibilance stage to a separated or generated vocal inside the same AI Studio project.

When to use it

  • S and SH sounds jump out of a vocal on headphones
  • Brightening or compressing a vocal made its S sounds harsher
  • You're about to add reverb and don't want sibilance splashing into the tail
  • A spoken-word track has sharp S sounds
  • Bright hi-hats or cymbals on their own track feel piercing

What you can make with it

A lead vocal, set by ear

Bring SPLIT down a little at a time while the brightest lines play, and listen with Δ DELTA to check whether the bands are catching S sounds or the vowels around them.

Rap verses and ad-libs

Put De-Esser One on the ad-lib track as well as the lead, since stacked takes add up their S sounds.

De-Esser One before the reverb

Place De-Esser One above Reverb One in the chain, so the vocal passes through its sibilance bands before it reaches the tail.

Spoken word and voice-over

Use it on a podcast or voice-over track with MIX below 100% for a lighter touch on speech.

Piercing cymbals

On a separate hi-hat or overhead track, set De-Esser One by ear and check what it changes on the top end with Δ DELTA.

A separated vocal

Split the vocal out with Stem Separator and put De-Esser One on its own track, where it won't react to cymbals in the mix. Stem Separator uses tokens.

De-Esser One is Soundverse's de-esser online: an effect in AI Studio that tames harsh S, SH and similar sounds in a vocal, right in your browser. After a fast stage on the top end, it splits the sibilance range into six narrow bands between about 4.8 and 10.8 kHz, and each band reacts when sibilance gets loud there. It's built for singers, rappers, podcasters and producers polishing a vocal, and it's free on every plan, with no tokens used.

What you can do

The controls

The six bands are already spread across the sibilance range. These are the controls you set by ear.

  • SPLIT

Sets how readily the bands react, from -60 to 0 dB. Turn it down to catch more sibilance, or up to leave more of it. It starts at -28 dB.

  • Δ DELTA

Plays only the difference the six bands make, so you can hear whether they're working on S sounds or on the voice. Switch it off before you export.

  • MIX

Sets how much of the six bands' processing you hear, for a lighter touch. It starts at 100%.

  • OUT

Trims the output from -24 to +24 dB. Right-click it and choose Add automation to change it over time.

What happens inside

Two stages run in order on everything that reaches the effect.

  • Fast high-frequency stage

A fast stage works on the part of the vocal above about 3.5 kHz before the six bands.

  • Six dynamic bands

Narrow bands centered from 4.8 to 10.8 kHz each react to the level in their part of the sibilance range.

Where the AI comes in

De-Esser One is signal processing. Agent One can set it up for you in AI Studio.

  • Ask Agent One

Open Agent One from the AI Studio top bar with its Studio switch on, and ask it to add De-Esser One to your vocal or move it in the chain. Agent One requests use tokens; the Free plan includes three Agent One generations, the second and third unlocked by sharing Soundverse.

    • Add De-Esser One to my vocal track
    • Put De-Esser One before the reverb on the vocals

Why use De-Esser One

Band by band

Six narrow bands each react to the level in their own slice of the sibilance range, from about 4.8 to 10.8 kHz.

Hear exactly what changes

Δ DELTA plays only the difference the six bands make, so you can tell whether they're working on sibilance or on the voice itself.

Already in four vocal chains

The Pop Vocals, Rap Vocals, Podcast Voice and Radio-Ready Vocal chain presets load De-Esser One with EQ and compression in one click.

Blend to taste

MIX sets how much of the six bands' processing you hear, and OUT trims the level, so you choose how strong De-Esser One is.

Good to know

No learn mode

There's no learn-from-selection button. You set De-Esser One by ear with SPLIT, MIX and OUT.

DELTA stays on until you switch it off

With Δ DELTA on, the track plays only the difference the bands make, and an export would too. Switch it off when you're done listening.

Whole-track processing

De-Esser One treats everything on its track. On a full mix it also reacts to cymbals and hi-hats, so give the vocal its own track where you can.

Frequently asked questions

Is De-Esser One a free de-esser online?

Yes. De-Esser One is included on every Soundverse plan, including Free, and uses no tokens, because it runs in your browser inside AI Studio. Your plan only changes the studio around it: on Free you keep up to 3 AI Studio projects with 3 tracks each and export MP3, while Creator and above add more tracks and WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG and stem export.

Will De-Esser One change the tone of my vocal?

It can, so set De-Esser One by ear. It works on the top end of the voice, with a fast stage above about 3.5 kHz and six bands from about 4.8 to 10.8 kHz, so it changes the vocal's brightness as well as its S sounds. Turn on Δ DELTA to hear what the bands change, lower MIX to hear less of their processing, and switch the effect off and on to compare before you export.

Can I release a vocal I de-essed with De-Esser One?

It depends on your Soundverse plan. On the Free plan, what you make is for personal use. Paid plans include a commercial license; the Pricing page lists what each plan covers. Whatever your plan, you need the rights to anything you upload or record into AI Studio, such as your vocal, a sample or someone else's song.

What can't De-Esser One do?

De-Esser One works only on the top end of a vocal. It doesn't remove background noise, room reverb or breaths, and it doesn't correct pitch. There's no learn-from-selection mode, so you set it by ear with SPLIT, MIX and OUT. On a full song it also reacts to bright cymbals and hi-hats, so it works most cleanly on a vocal that has its own track.

What is De-Esser One?

De-Esser One is a vocal de-esser in Soundverse AI Studio, built to turn down harsh S, SH and similar sounds when they get loud. It runs in your browser as a track effect: a fast high-frequency stage first, then six dynamic bands across the sibilance range, with a Δ DELTA monitor, a MIX control for parallel blending and an output trim.

How do I de-ess vocals online with De-Esser One?

Put the vocal on a track in Soundverse AI Studio, click the track header, click ADD EFFECT and pick De-Esser One under the Vocal chip. Click its slot to open the window, press Play and lower SPLIT until the harsh S sounds sit back. Check the result with Δ DELTA, then switch DELTA off and export from AI Studio.

Is De-Esser One an AI plugin?

De-Esser One itself is signal processing: it reacts to the level in each band as the vocal plays, with no generative model and no tokens. The AI sits around it. With the Studio switch on, Agent One can add De-Esser One to your vocal track and adjust it when you ask. Agent One requests use tokens, and the Free plan includes three Agent One generations, the second and third unlocked by sharing Soundverse.

Should De-Esser One go before or after VocalDuality One?

Put De-Esser One first. VocalDuality One copies whatever reaches it, so de-essing before the doubler keeps harsh S sounds from stacking up across every copy. In Soundverse AI Studio, drag an effect slot by its handle to reorder the chain, and keep reverb, such as Reverb One, after both.

Ready to smooth out your vocal?

Open AI Studio, add De-Esser One to your vocal track and set it by ear. It's free on every plan.
