A sweater in the summer sun, Flinching when his mother walks in. “It’s nothing,” I whispered, But the sight of you steals my breath. Beautiful you, perfect you— You make me forget myself. “It was nothing,” you said, “You like blue, so here are these flowers.” (No one knew your favorite color.) “It’s nothing,” you smiled, But to me, it’s everything, And nothing will ever compare. (No, it’s everything, I don’t say.) “It was nothing,” you said, “You like blue, so here are these flowers.” (No one knew your favorite color.) “It’s nothing,” you smiled, But to me, it’s everything, And nothing will ever compare. ---
