Audio to MIDI: turn a recording into editable notes
Add a song, a stem or a solo take. Audio to MIDI writes out the notes it hears as MIDI, one track per instrument, counted at your song's tempo.
Audio to MIDI is a Soundverse tool that transcribes the notes in a recording into MIDI, with one .mid file for each instrument it detects. It's for producers, songwriters and arrangers who want a melody, bass line or chord part as notes they can edit, rearrange or play on another instrument. You get .mid files in your Library, and in AI Studio the notes land as MIDI tracks under your clip.

How it works
Add your audio
Open Audio to MIDI and pick a recording under Audio, from your Library or your device. It can be up to 30 minutes long.
Check the tempo
Tempo (BPM) fills itself from the file's own tempo or by detecting it from the audio. Edit it if it's wrong, so the notes line up with the bars.
Pick the output
Leave Output on Auto, or choose One track for a single instrument or By instrument to split a full mix into a track per instrument.
Convert and use the notes
Click Generate in Chat and each instrument's .mid file is saved to your Library and listed in the chat. In AI Studio, the notes land as MIDI tracks under the clip.
Why use Audio to MIDI
One track per instrument
A full mix can come back split by instrument, such as piano, bass, guitar and strings, each in its own .mid file.
Counted at your tempo
Notes are counted on your song's tempo grid, which fills itself from the file or the audio, so bars line up when you edit.
Stems stay together
On Auto, a single-instrument stem or a Studio clip stays on one track instead of being scattered across several instrument tracks.
Up to 30 minutes of audio
Convert anything from a short riff to a full song or live take, in MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG, M4A or MP4 format.

Frequently asked questions
What is Audio to MIDI?
Audio to MIDI is a Soundverse tool that transcribes the notes played in a recording into MIDI, with one track for each instrument it detects. Soundverse saves each track as a .mid file in your Library, and in AI Studio the notes land as MIDI tracks you can edit or play on another instrument.
How do I convert audio to MIDI with AI?
Open Audio to MIDI in Soundverse, pick your recording under Audio and check Tempo (BPM), which fills itself from the file or by detecting it from the audio. Choose an Output: Auto, One track or By instrument. Then click Generate in Chat. Audio to MIDI saves one .mid file per instrument to your Library, ready to drag onto a MIDI track in AI Studio.
What files does Audio to MIDI accept?
Audio to MIDI accepts MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG, M4A and MP4 audio, picked from your Soundverse Library or uploaded from your device. A recording can be up to 30 minutes long, and Audio to MIDI converts one file per run. You need the rights to anything you upload.
How accurate is Audio to MIDI?
Audio to MIDI writes out what it hears, so a clean recording of the part you want, such as a stem or a solo take, gives the most usable notes. Set Tempo (BPM) correctly too: a wrong tempo doesn't move the notes, but it snaps them to the wrong 16th notes and draws the wrong bar lines under them. Audio to MIDI captures notes, not sound, so tone, effects and lyrics aren't kept.
Can Audio to MIDI split a song into separate instruments?
Yes. Set Output to By instrument and Audio to MIDI writes a separate track, and a separate.mid file, for each instrument it detects, such as piano, bass, guitar or strings. For a recording of one instrument, choose One track so every note stays together. Auto, the default, picks One track for a single-instrument stem or a Studio clip and By instrument for anything else.
Can I use Audio to MIDI inside AI Studio?
Yes. Right-click an audio clip in AI Studio, open AI Tools and choose Convert to MIDI. Audio to MIDI runs on the whole file, starts from the clip's tempo and lays the notes on MIDI tracks under the clip. Output's default, Auto, picks One track for a clip; choose By instrument for one track per detected instrument. From there you can edit the notes, or download a clip's notes with Export as MIDI File.
Is Audio to MIDI free?
Audio to MIDI is billed by the length of your audio, so each run uses tokens from your plan in line with the seconds you convert. Soundverse is free to sign up, and new accounts get free starter tokens. On the Free plan, what you make is for personal use. Paid plans add a commercial license; the Pricing page lists what each plan covers.
Can I turn the MIDI into a full song?
Yes. Open MIDI to Song Generator, pick a .mid file that Audio to MIDI saved to your Library, and add lyrics. MIDI to Song Generator turns a MIDI melody into a full sung song and reads 5 to 60 seconds of melody, so a short melodic part works better than a whole multi-instrument arrangement.
